¡¡¡¡The world¡¯s biggest spoon made a debut in the Changsha-based China Xiang Cuisine (Hunan Cuisine) Museum on Sept.25. Known as the world¡¯s No.1 spoon, it is prepared specifically for the opening of the museum, Chief of the Museum Yao Zailiang said.

¡¡¡¡According to Mr. Yao, a spoon is more frequently used for seasoning dishes than other table-wares like bowl and chopsticks etc. Therefore, the spoon is expected to become a symbolic utensil for the Xiang cuisine culture.

¡¡¡¡Made of Fangshan jade, the spoon is 4.06 meters long, 1.218 meters wide, 1.118 meters high and weighs 2 tons. It¡¯s not surprising that it has taken the title of ¡°the World¡¯s No.1 Spoon¡± from the 0.8 meter-long porcelain spoon manufactured in Jingdezhen, China¡¯s porcelain city. A stone material company in northern China¡¯s Hebei Province spent more than 3 months in making the spoon. Imitating the design of the spoon among the porcelain wares for Chairman Mao¡¯s exclusive use, it is featured by the fine workmanship with carved decorations like plum blossoms inside the spoon and auspicious clouds on the handle, thus carrying high value for collection.

¡¡¡¡At present, the museum has submitted the application for the Guinness World Record to the global headquarters of Guinness World Records in London.
