On the morning of Oct.30, Cai Lifeng, vice director of the Standing Committee of the Hunan People’s Congress met in Changsha with the delegation from Shiga County, Japan. The delegation headed by the former chairman of the Shiga County Council consists of councilmen from the county.

　　Cai extended his warm welcome to these old friends. He said that the friendly ties were established between Hunan and Shiga 26 years ago. Since then, good cooperation has been carried out between the two parties in the fields of economy, culture, education and others. The ecological environment in Hunan is improved gradually. However, the province still expects to learn more from Japan’s advanced experience in environmental protection to promote its sustainable development.

　　The former chairman revealed that it is the tenth time that he has come to visit the province. He experienced its strong development momentum every time he arrived here. He suggested that the two parties should not only strengthen cooperation in environmental protection but also enhance the exchanges in sports and other sectorsfields. The friendship between the two peoples should be deepened through more frequent non-governmental contacts, the delegation head hoped.
