52,142 register to take Gaokao in Changsha

According to the 2015 Changsha Gaokao Conference held yesterday, a total of 52,142 students registered for the college entrance exam, 2,438 more than last year. During the Conference, 9 directors of the Education Bureau of Changsha’s districts and countieshanded their “Gaokao Liability Form”. Municipal Standing Committee member Xia Jianping attended the conference.

Xia Jianping stressed that the examp is a matter of talent selection, social equity and the Party and government’s image. He enjoined the audience to place greater value on organizing the Gaokao, and to show nos no tolerance for carelessness and perfunctoriness. He said, "We need to highlight the key points, and to make through all the essential sections, including exam site facility construction, examinee support service, exam room environment improvement, exam discipline publicity, exam management training, and so on. To deliver all aspects of support service and to ensure Gaokao’s safety, equity, harmony and order, responsibilities and duties should be clearly divided; a strict exam supervision and accountability system is expected to be established." Xia reminded the organizers to ensure the safety, equity and harmony of the examination process and guarantee a strict supervision and accountability system.

The officials stated that order and discipline are the Gaokao’s lifeline and promised to strictly follow the requirements of the Ministry of Education and Provincial Examination Board. Education departments at every level will assign responsible officials . Exam papers will be loaded and counted under video monitoring, and strict handover procedures are required.

After obtaining exam papers, the innvigilator must go straight into the exam room through an enclosed passageway accompanied by another person; the whole process must be occur under video surveillance or visible to responsible officials. Sites will use modern technology to prevent bugging or electronic cheating. The authorities must be prepared for the growing numbers of test-takers.
