Built 6000-odd years ago, Chengtoushan, an ancient historic site, is located at Lixian County, Changde City, Hunan Province. Regarded as the cradle of rice culture worldwide, it once owned complete sets of production tools, perfect craftsmanship system, and advanced sacrificial and funeral culture. It was also reputed as “the earliest city in China”, the first exemplar of town planning, and the nationwide model of ancient towns boasting the earliest military defensive system.

The historic site was scheduled to be built into a national 5A-level tourist attraction under the guidance of integrating cultural heritage protection with tourism. The ancient town will fully demonstrate to tourists ancestors’ wisdom in ramming earth to build the town and digging paddy rice fields, as well as its unique charm.
