Hunan Xiangjiang New Area struck a deal to build a series of specialist healthcare centers in the area's medical town, at the eighth Chinese-German Forum for Economic and Technological Cooperation, held in Beijing on June 13.

The national event saw a total of 48 projects signed between German and Chinese companies.

Hunan Xiangjiang New Area's deal, worth 593 million yuan ($89.7 million), was signed between German-Sino Healthcare Group and China Puren Group and will see the building of centers for pathology and tumor examination, elderly care rehabilitation, an international nursing college and a tumor hospital.

Guo Zhenggui, deputy Party chief of Changsha and director of Hunan Xiangjiang New Area Management Committee, took part in extensive exchanges with Markus Fehr, vice-president of German-Sino Healthcare Group, which comprises leading Chinese and German medical companies. Guo expressed his hopes for the two sides to increase cooperative efforts in boosting the healthcare industry.

The Hunan Xiangjiang New Area is the first state-level new area in Central China. It is located on the west bank of the Xiangjiang River and is comprised of several districts of Changsha.
