Eight categories of products including tea of Guzhang, Valencia orange, fragrant ginger, pomelo, and taro of Jiangyong, and waxberry, tuckahoe, and hickory nut of Jingzhou have passed the national evaluation of ecological products with origin protection, a breakthrough for the province in such field, according to Hunan Entry-Exit Inspection and Quarantine Bureau on January 6, 2017.

It was said that the province has actively promoted origin protection of ecological products since 2015, and paid great attention to integrate it with industrial poverty alleviation to explore the characteristic products in remote impoverished areas. The first batch of eight such kinds of products will be labeled with origin protection marks to highlight their ecology and original characteristics of the differences from similar products, greatly elevating their product brands, competitive advantages, and added value.

Hunan Entry-Exit Inspection and Quarantine Bureau indicated that in the future, the ecological products enjoying origin protection in Hunan will be given priority in inspection application, inspection, testing, and clearance via a “green channel” specifically set for them. And corresponding enterprises will take precedence in registration and certification when implementing export registration.

Beyond that, Guzhang, Jiangyong, and Jingzhou counties of Hunan Province are busy establishing “eco-origin protection demonstration area”, all of whom have passed on-site assessment by the inspection group of the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection, and Quarantine of the PRC.
