Hunan plans to invest 28 billion yuan in expressway construction in 2017, to complete five expressway projects within the year, as was announced at the work conference of expressway construction of Hunan Province held in Changsha on February 21. The five projects are Yiyang-Loudi Expressway, Yueyang-Wangcheng Expressway, Yanling-Rucheng Expressway, and Dajie (Linxiang)-Yueyang Expressway Dongtinghu Bridge section.

Hunan will accelerate expressway construction, whose traffic mileage would reach over 300 km. Zhangjiajie-Sangzhi and Wugang-Jingzhou Expressways are scheduled to be completed this year. The periodical comprehensive maintenance of Xiangtan-Shaoyang Expressway will enter the second phase.

Upon the opening of Yueyang-Wangcheng Expressway, the Beijing-Hong Kong- Macao Highway Hunan section will be put into full operation. This main artery linking north and south Hunan is expected to ease the traffic pressure of Beijing-Hong Kong-Macao Highway.

Beyond that, some preliminary work will be launched, including Anxiang-Cili, Jingzhou-Liping, Qidong-Changning, Jiangbei-Ganshan, Pingjiang-Wushi, Wushi-Yiyang, Ningxiang-Shaoshan, and Chenglingji expressway projects. The multiple tracks of Shanghai-Kunming Expressway, and expressways connecting Xinning and Baicang, Zhijiang and Tongren, and Guanzhuang and Xinhua, will begin construction.
