Activity Held to Learn from Leifeng Spirit

　　The photos taken on March 1, 2017 show pupils and teachers from a primary school visit Hunan Lei FengMemorial Hall in Wangcheng District, Changsha City.

The memorial hall saw a peak season for visitors from all walks of life since mid-February, close to over 10,000 daily. Visitors learned more about Lei Feng’s life stories through displayed objects, pictures, and multimedia access, to gain a deep understanding of LeiFeng’s spirit.

Background information:
Lei Feng is China's iconic soldier who embodied selflessness and died during an accident at the age of 22 in 1962. The next year, the late Chairman Mao Zedong encouraged the whole nation to learn from Lei's passion for helping others and his devotion to work, and March 5 of every year is designated "Lei Feng Day." The year of 2017 marks the 54th anniversary of the start of the 'Learn from Lei Feng' campaign.
