Hunan Eyes Gold in Synchronised Swimming at China’s 13th National Games

  The preliminary round of China’s 13th National Games synchronised swimming competition and the 2017 FINA (Fédération Internationale de Natation) Synchronised Swimming World Series concluded in Taiyuan on April 24, 2017.

  Kicked off two days ago, the preliminary round of the Games consisted of team routines, duet routines, and free routines. Teams from Beijing, Shanghai, Tianjin, Hunan, Sichuan, Jiangsu, Hubei, and Guangdong participated in. Hunan’s Sun Wenyan and Li Xiaolu won the women’s duet routine with 90.77 points.

  Xia Xuehai, director of the Hunan Swimming Center, said that Hunan team eyes the gold medal in the duet routine of synchronised swimming at China’s National Games. “Sun and Li are members of the national synchronized swimming team, and Sun is the team leader. They are recognized as China’s best duet in synchronised swimming because of their previous good performances in major competitions”, added Xia.

  The synchronised swimming finals will be held ahead of the National Games in Tianjin from May 17 to 19. Sun and Li are expected to win Hunan’s first gold medal at the Games. The National Games will be held in October.
