Hunan, HK to Boost Cooperation in Sci-tech Innovation

　　The Hunan Scientific and Technological Innovation and Industrial Development Promotion Conference was held in Hong Kong on April 25, 2017. It was hosted by the Hunan Provincial People’s Government, and undertaken by the provincial Department of Science and Technology. More than 60 organizations and institutions participated in.

　　Hunan Vice Governor Xiang Lili was present at the event.

　　Hunan Province is one of China’s five pilots on building itself into a powerful province in intellectual property (IP). It has developed several world-class techniques, such as super computer; super hybrid rice; super-speed train; world’s tallest concrete pump; world-class crawler crane; and “Sea Bull” submersible deep-sea drill. The high-speed railway power system and the medium-low speed maglev train reached world-leading technical level.

　　Hunan and Hong Kong have maintained sound sci-tech cooperation, and reached remarkable results.

　　The Hunan Department of Science and Technology inked an agreement of cooperation intention with the Hong Kong Applied Science and Technology Research Institute (ASTRI). The two sides aimed to establish an IP personnel training, protection, and management collaboration mechanism, based on the Business of IP Asia Forum in Hong Kong, and the Pan-Pearl River Delta platform.

　　At present, the National Engineering Research Center for Control &Treatment of Heavy Metal Pollution in Central South University has been approved to establish a branch in Hong Kong.
