Changsha Total Retail Sales of Consumer Goods Surge in Q1

　　The Statistics Bureau of Hunan Province announced recently that the total retail sales of consumer goods in Changsha in the first quarter exceeded 102 billion yuan, an increase of 10.9% over last year and 0.4 percentage points higher than the annual target.

　　Rapid growth occurred in wholesale, retailing, accommodation, and catering, up by 17.7%, 10.0%, 5.3%, and 11.8% respectively over last year, with a retail sales of 11.326, 80.987, 0.959, 8.877 billion yuan achieved respectively.

　　Of the 21 categories concerning the retail sales of units above designated size in Changsha, the retail sales of automobile; petroleum and related products; traditional Chinese and western medicines; garments, footwear, hats, and knitwear; grain, oil and foodstuff; and, household appliances and AV equipment took the first six places. Petroleum replacing automobile has played a vital role in stabilizing Changsha’s consumer markets. It contributed to 2.4 percentage points growth of Changsha’s retail sales of goods of units above designated size.
