A freight train heading to Budapest, capital of Hungary, set off from Xianing Railroad Yard in Changsha, capital of central China's Hunan Province, on May 27, 2017.

Mr. Lóránd Dióssi, Consul General of Consulate General of Hungary in Chongqing, and Hunan Vice Governor He Baoxiang attended the departing ceremony.

The train, X8422, marks the opening of a new Hunan-Europe Express line. Loaded with 41 containers, the train will shorten the freight time from Hunan to Hungary into 12 days. It will operate one-way once a week, running 10,000 kilometers through Mongolia, Russia, and Ukraine.

Hunan has launched two similar freight train services to Western Europe’s Hamburg, Duisburg, and Eastern Europe.

Located in central Europe, Hungary enjoys convenient transportation and complete support facilities. It is known as “the Heart of Europe” and “the Gate of Central and Eastern Europe”.
