“Face Swiping” Check-in Trial at Changsha Airport

　　On June 16, the Changsha Huanghua International Airport put a “face swiping” check-in system into trial operation at its 16 security check lanes.

　　The cameras beside the check-in desks at these lanes automatically photograph the passing passengers. Passengers just need to walk their way as usual, instead of deliberate posing.

　　An airport official Zou Bin introduced that, the “face swiping” system can capture passengers’ facial information, and compares it with ID photos. This face recognition technology helps inspectors quickly and accurately verify the passenger identity.

　　The “face swiping” check-in system effectively overcomes the artificial recognition risks due to fatigue or some uncertain factors. It shortens recognition time for each passenger from 20 or 30 seconds to 2 seconds on average.
