  我在丝茅冲德雅路做甜酒生意快28年了

  I have done the business of glutinous rice wine for nearly 28 years in Deya road, Changsha.

  我甜酒的糯米都是我自己种的

  The glutinous rice is planted by myself.

  反正是自产自销

  Anyhow, I make and sell the glutinous rice wine.

  种田只种一季稻

  I just plant the single-season rice.

  种一季稻是晚稻糯(米)

  It is late glutinous rice.

  晚稻糯(米)做出来的甜酒好吃一些

  The wine made of late glutinous rice tastes better.

  我每年大概是中秋之后过来

  I would come to Changsha after mid-autumn

  到端午之后回去

  And return to Xiangtan after the Dragon Boat Festival.

  酒曲我们也是老传统

  The wine yeast is also made traditionally.

  一般都是河边头山里面采的草药

  We always gather herbs by the riverside and in the hills.

  用早稻米粉

  Herbs together with early-season rice flour,

  也是发酵出来的

  Are fermented into the wine yeast.

  我们在这里做甜酒做的时间有这么长了

  I have made the glutinous rice wine here for long.

  有好多就是细伢子(小朋友)吃起

  Many adults have my glutinous rice wine from their childhood

  吃到现在到如今又有细伢子(小朋友)了

  And even have their own children now.

  吃到以后我们一不做了

  If I stop making the glutinous rice wine,

  可能(小钵子)甜酒也难吃到了

  It may hardly have such authentic kind in Changsha.

  因为现在(愿意做这个)手艺毕竟还是少了

  After all, seldom people are willing to do this craft.

  人就老了人又少了

  I grow older and successors become fewer.

  以后肯定会没得吃

  There will be little chance to have such glutinous rice wine.
