A freight train loaded with 1,100 tons of goods arrived at the Changsha Xianing Station on Aug. 8, 2017. It had departed from Hamburg, Germany and passed through Poland, Belarus, and Russia. It was the first return freight train of China Railway Express, marking its official two-way regular operation.

In the future, a return freight train will depart from Hamburg every Saturday (Hamburg local time), and four freight trains from Hunan every week according to the Hunan-Europe Express timetable. The regular operation will assist Changsha Xianing Station in becoming an international inland port in central and southern China, as well as boost Hunan’s development and participation in the “Belt and Road” initiative.

There are now five Hunan-Europe Express lines access to Hamburg and Duisburg of Germany, Minsk of Belarus, Malaszewicze of Poland, and Budapest of Hungary. They also link 10 countries including Germany, Ukraine, Russia, Hungary, and Latvia and cover 13 major cities along the lines.
