The 2017 Asia-Pacific Forum on Low Carbon Technology opened in Changsha on November 29. Hunan Vice Governor Yang Guangrong addressed the opening ceremony. Asian Development Bank (ADB) senior advisor Ayumi Konishi was present.

The theme was “Transitioning Towards Sustainable Low-Carbon City Development”. The Forum was aimed at exploring and establishing a new international cooperation mode and partnership in low-carbon technology.

The Hunan Development and Reform Commission and the Institute for Sustainable Communities (ISC) signed a MoU for the second phase low-carbon city cooperative project. The Ping An Insurance (Group) Company and the Hunan Innovative Low Carbon Center signed a MoU on promoting low-carbon technology enterprise financing cooperation.

Vice Governor Yang welcomed the guests, and expressed gratitude for their concerns on Hunan’s reform and development. Hunan pays high attention to low carbon economy. A series of policies and documents have been released, such as the Five-year Action Plan of Hunan Province on Promoting Low-carbon Development. Hunan established China’s first international low-carbon technology transfer platform, and first greenhouse gas emission management system. It is currently engaged in constructing a low-carbon and cyclic economic system.

Yang said that, the first session of the Forum was held in Changsha last year. It promoted communication and cooperation among the Asian-Pacific countries and regions, and facilitated several cooperative projects and low-carbon technology transfer. Hunan will take this opportunity to enhance domestic and international exchange and cooperation, and improve Hunan’s low-carbon technologies and green development. Hunan is ready to collaborate with all partners to promote low-carbon and green development progress.

The guests also visited the Asian-Pacific Low-carbon Technology Exhibition after the Forum.
