Seminar on Green Urbanization Development and Practice Held in Changsha

　　A seminar on green urbanization development and practice, part of the 2018 national annual event for World Environment Day, was held in Changsha on June 6. Representatives from ASEAN and Belt and Road countries, as well as Chinese government organ chiefs, experts, and enterprises from the field of environmental protection attended. They probed into ecological environment issues in the process of urbanization in developing countries to seek win-win cooperation.

　　Zhou Guomei, deputy director of the China-ASEAN Environmental Cooperation Center, said, “ It is necessary to establish a cooperation platform for government, research institutions, enterprises, and financial institutions, to promote the green development of “Belt and Road” initiative.” The platform helps them to share experiences and solutions, so as to promote cities’ green transformation from the aspects of production and lifestyle.

　　Government officials and representatives from Indonesia, Mongolia, Vietnam, and other countries introduced their problems and development needs in infrastructure, CO2 emission reduction, urban garbage, and old cities transformation.

　　Zeng Weihua, professor at the Beijing Normal University’s School of Environment, believed that scale, structure, and layout are the core elements of green town planning.

　　Hunan is taking the lead in China’s environmental protection industry. In 2017, its output value in this sector reached 210 billion CNY. At the seminar, Hunan Zhishui Environmental Engineering Co., Ltd. and the Aerospace Kaitian Environmental Technology Co., Ltd. demonstrated their creative practices in decentralized sewage treatment and integrated operation of ecological environment management.
