Wu Lan, CPC Hunan Provincial Committee deputy secretary, met with Isabel da Costa Ferreira, wife of Taur Matan Ruak, Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste prime minister, and her entourage in Changsha on December 10, 2018.

Wu Lan, on behalf of the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee and the People’s Government of Hunan Province, welcomed the guests and briefed on Hunan’s situation. She said, “Hunan has rich cultural heritage, natural resources, unique location advantages, good industrial foundation, and strong development momentum. Although China and Timor-Leste are far apart from each other, we bear long traditional friendship.” She continued, “As the exchanges between the two countries continue to deepen, cooperation between Hunan and Timor-Leste has become increasingly closer. We expect that both sides will take the visit as an opportunity to strengthen personnel exchanges to enhance mutual friendship; intensify friendly exchanges and interactions between cities to promote mutual exchanges and cooperation in all aspects and fields; and continue to reinforce the cooperation of Longping Hi-Tech’s agricultural projects in Timor-Leste.” “We are willing to build a cooperation model between the two sides to achieve mutual benefits and win-win results,” she added.

Isabel remarked that Timor-Leste’s cooperation with Hunan is deepening, thanks to Hunan’s support for the agricultural development. Timor-Leste is willing to learn from Hunan’s development experience and further strengthen cooperation and exchanges between the two sides. She promised to consolidate and deepen the mutual traditional friendship, so as to elevate the all-round advancement of Timor-Leste’s economic and social progress.
