Nuo dance on Girls’ Day of the Miao Nationality

　　Recently, the Ministry of Culture released the list of 2014-2016 “Home of Chinese Folk Culture and Art”. Suining County (custom of Girls’ Day of the Miao Nationality) and Huxingshan Yao Nationality Township in Longhui County of Shaoyang City (Huayao hand-stitching work) were among the 442 names.

　　Girls’ Day of the Miao Nationality in Suining is the most ceremonious festival of Mao people every year. It was listed in the catalogue of the second batch of Chinese intangible cultural heritage. Huayao hand-stitching work of Huxingshan Yao Nationality Township was included in the catalogue of the first batch of Chinese intangible cultural heritage and was collected by UNESCO, the National Art Museum of China (NAMOC) and Chinese National Museum of Ethnology as treasure. Huxingshan Yao Nationality Township is thus named “Hometown of Hand-stitching Work” by the Hunan Provincial Department of Culture.
