Hunan, Taiwan to Further Promote Cooperation

The 11th Hunan-Taiwan Cooperation Conference on Economy & Trade was held from Oct. 12 to 14 in Shaoyang, Hunan.Themed "deepening communication and cooperation to share developing opportunities"; the three-day event was committed to establish a platform of equal communication, information exchanging and achievements sharing for both Hunan and Taiwan SMEs. 73 major carefully-selected investment attraction projects of Hunan Province were released at the conference, with a total investment of 300 Bln Yuan including 41 PPP demonstration projects.

Hunan, Taiwan Leaders Discuss Further Cooperation

On the afternoon of Oct. 11, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee Sun Jinlong met in Changsha with a Taiwan delegation led by Chan Chun-po, former vice chairman of Kuomintang (KMT) party. Chan came to Hunan this time for the 11th Hunan-Taiwan Cooperation Conference on Economy & Trade. Sun welcomed the guests and introduced Hunan’s development. In recent years, Hunan and Taiwan kept propelling bilateral communication and economic and trade cooperation. By the end of this August, Hunan has approved 2,367 Taiwan-funded projects, with 7.879 billion USD investment contracted and 6.513 billion USD guaranteed.Chan appreciated Hunan’s supports and concerns to Taiwan-based enterprises. He expected to take the advantage of Hunan-Taiwan Cooperation Conference on Economy & Trade to further deepen bilateral cooperation, aiming to reach mutual benefits and common development.  On the morning that day, Chan and his delegation visited the Taiwan Businessmen’s Headquarter Buildingjointly invested by Hunan Jiulong Group and Taiwan Nam Liong Group.

Hunan, Taiwan Sigh 17 Contracts

The 11th Hunan-Taiwan Cooperation Conference on Economy & Trade opened in Shaoyang, Hunan on Oct. 13. Eight projects were contracted and nine cooperation agreements were reached at the conference, with a total investment of 2.192 billion USD while Taiwan investment being 1.75 billion USD. These 17 projects are expected to make a total output value of over 40 billion yuan upon full operation. Huang remarked that Hunan and Taiwan should give play to each other’s complementary advantages in industrial structure, science and technology and talent management, to reinforce collaboration in sci-tech innovation, industrial transfer, high-tech agriculture, modern service industry and cultural exchanges, so as to expand Hunan-Taiwan economic and trade cooperation.
