Xiangxi Launches 12 Tailored Routes to Boost Tourism

　　To develop Great Xiangxi (Western Hunan) into an international tourist destination, Hunan Province has introduced strategic policies to boost the area’s tourism while greatly improving its transportation network.

　　An overall layout of integration of cultural and ecotourism in Great Xiangxi has been formed based on the Development Planning Cultural and Ecotourism in Great Xiangxi (2011-2020) and A Three-year Action Plan on Building of a Moderately Prosperous Society in Great Xiangxi issued in recent years.

　　Meeting market demands, the overall layout effectively integrates the area’s tourism resources and tourism facilities, including railways and highways, ancient villages, ancient towns, modern agricultural demonstration bases, leading enterprises of agricultural industrialization, water conservancy scenic spots, forest parks and geoparks.

　　This August the province released the Overall Design Scheme on Classic Travel Routes to Develop Cultural and Ecotourism in Great Xiangxi to develop 12 tailor-made tours in the following five years.

　　From Oct. 19 to 23, 2015, central mainstream media and local mass media of Hunan Province paid a visit to Huaihua to inspect how the city integrates local culture and ecotourism in its newly-promoted travel routes. The media group was amazed at the rich and unique minority culture presented by locals in Huitong County and Jingzhou Miao & Dong Autonomous County.
