Grand Theater of Changsha Meixihu Culture Center

Photos taken on Mar. 14, 2016 show aerial views of the Grand Theater of Changsha Meixihu International Culture & Arts Center. The project designed by Zaha Hadid, a world-famous British visual artist, looks like a blooming hibiscus mutabilis consisting of four fluid petals.

The main steel structure of its 1,800-seat Grand Theater, 500-seat Smaller Theater (Multi-purpose Hall) and 10,000-sqm Contemporary Art Museum were all completed until this day. Covering an area of 100,000 sqm, the building complex is now being equipped with curtain walls, electro mechanical device, and stage machinery.

Upon completion, it will be used as a multi-functional venue for song, dance and drama performances, symphony concerts, exhibitions, cultural exchanges and trainings.

It is expected to put into operation by the end of this year, and the anticipated annual reception capacity will reach one million person-times.
