A fantastic world is created before the audience’s eyes as stage lights of the show “Tianmen Fox Fairy” turn on.

Artists of Zhangjiajie Charming Xiangxi Art Troupe perform at a special show “Happy Spring Festival” in Jordan University during the Spring Festival period of 2016.

The value added of cultural industry of Hunan in 2015 maintained rapid growth and increased 13.2% year on year to over 171 billion yuan, accounting for 5.9% of the provincial GDP, according to rough estimates of the Hunan Provincial Bureau of Statistics.

During the Chinese New Year 2016 or the Year of the Monkey, Hunan has sent four art troupes to perform in countries such as the USA, Iraq, Jordan, South Africa, Equatorial Guinea, Ethiopia and Indonesia. The number of spectators totaled 500,000 with each theater packed.

Apart from implementing “Go global” strategy to develop cultural industry, Hunan focuses on cultivating export-oriented cultural market entities to promote Hunan cultural products abroad and increase their global market share, including porcelain, Xiang embroidery, ancient books, tea, movie, and television.

“Industrial integration is the key to achieve sustainable development in cultural industry,” said Yang Jinyuan, deputy director of the Publicity Department of the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee. Besides the combination of culture and tourism, Yang added that initiatives should be taken to promote the integrated development between culture and finance, technology, sports and agriculture, so as to foster new growth points for industrial development.
