Enclosed House Discovered in Hunan for the First Time

An ancient annular vernacular residence of Qing Dynasty (1644-1911) was discovered in Longtou Village, Shatian Town, Guidong County, Hunan Province on May 24, 2016. It was discovered by the staff of Administration of Cultural Relics of the county during a general survey on cultural relics. Made of wood and bricks, the ring-shaped architecture contains more than 100 rooms within the floor space of nearly 2,000 sqm. Such a Hakka round house style building is the first of its kind ever spotted in Hunan Province.
