Innovative Book Bar Opens to the Public

An "old water tower converted book bar" built in Longma Community, Donghu Street, Furong District of Changsha City was open to the public on June 13, 2016. Restored from an old cement water tank deserted for long, the novel book bar was highly appraised and welcomed by the public. Numerous residents lived nearby enjoy reading books here. The hollow section of the abandoned water tower has been ingeniously designed into a large "bookcase". Its upper layers are neatly placed with books and newspaper, while the lower layers space for "book crossing" where readers may place their books to exchange for reading. The book bar is operating in a self-service mode. The readers are required to return books in time. It opens from 8:00 am to 6:00 pm every day. Reading notice has been issued by the Donghu Street Community to remind people of valuing and cherishing books. Warm-hearted volunteers come here to sort out books after 6:00 pm every afternoon.
