Hunan Issues 13th Five-Year Plan for Sports Development

The Sports Bureau of Hunan Province unveiled the 13th Five-Year Plan for Hunan Sports Development (The Plan for short) in Changsha on June 22, 2016. The Plan specified the development indicator, pointing out that the sports industry will have created an output value of over 100 billion yuan by 2020.

According to the Plan, initiatives should be taken to give full play of sports industry’s role in channeling private funds to sports industry development and to incorporate it into Hunan’s overall planning of service industry. The province will formulate a scientific plan for sports development to strengthen construction of sports industrial park, industrial base (demonstration unit and demonstration project). Featured sports industry in line with local conditions is highly encouraged. Priorities will be given to developing a batch of competitive key enterprises specializing in sports, fostering sports market entity, diversifying supply of sports service products, and leading consumers to sports consumption.

The Plan not only stressed the development of sports products manufacturing, sports performance industry, fitness exercise, sports training, and intermediary services of sports, but also the integrated development between sports and related industries. Efforts should be taken to promote the integration among sports, healthcare industry, sports culture creativity industry, advertising and media, and further drive the development of sports media, sports advertising and sports exhibition.
