Measures taken to ease Spring Festival travel rush

The China Railway Guangzhou Group Co., Ltd. handled 1.4 million passenger trips on February 6, a year-on-year increase of 13.1%, according to the group on February 6. The number of passengers traveling out of Hunan Province through Hunan’s railway stations in Changsha, Huaihua, Shaoyang, and Hengyang has risen sharply. A majority of passengers headed for Beijing, Guangdong, and Shanghai. The China Railway Guangzhou Group has adjusted its transport capacity accordingly. It is scheduled to run 400 extra trains, including 352 bullet trains and 48 ordinary trains. The extra trains are bound for Guangdong, Shanghai, and Nanchang. More trains are added from Changsha South Railway Station to Guangdong and Nanchang.

The Changsha South Railway Station decided to run 17 more regular trains and 25 temporary trains to popular destinations. The Changsha Railway Station plans to run 28 temporary trains, of which 11 trains are bound for Guangzhou. The Hengyang Station will add 9 temporary trains, of which 2 trains depart from Hengyang. Three temporary trains will be added in Shaoyang Station, including 2 trains bound for Changsha and 1 bound for Guangzhou.

In order to meet travel peak needs, the Hunan railway authority has organized Party members and volunteers to provide consultation services and assistance for passengers at ticket halls, security checkpoints and waiting halls. More ticket windows are opened to meet the travel needs of passengers.

The railway authority remains that, during the Spring Festival travel rush, passengers should reserve enough time for check-in formalities, take personal protective measures, acquire epidemic prevention and control policy of destinations in advance, and cooperate with health QR code check and temperature measurement at stations. During the Winter Olympics, those traveling to Beijing must provide negative results of nucleic acid tests taken in the 48 hours before arrival and a green health code.
