Vice Governor Huang Lanxiang Meets Former Australian Ambassador to China

Vice Governor Huang Lanxiang met with Geoff Raby, former Australian Ambassador to China and independent director of Fortescue Metals Group (FMC) on July 22.

Vice Governor Huang welcomed Mr. Geoff Raby and his delegation. She affirmed that due to his active efforts, Hunan Valin Iron & Steel Group Co., Ltd. has become the second largest shareholder of FMG, making it the largest foreign investment project of Hunan. It was also awarded “the first classic case of overseas investment of China”. Both sides achieved win-win cooperation by using capital as the bonding factor. In addition, Hunan Xintiandi Group established a joint venture with Australia Orica Group to jointly build a world-class production line of nonel detonator, promoting technical upgrading of detonating devices in Hunan. She expected Hunan to further enhance cooperation with Australia to achieve mutual benefits.

Geoff Raby thanked Vice Governor Huang for the meeting. He stated that Australia and Hunan enjoy broad prospect for cooperation. He promised to continue his efforts to push forward the development of FMG and Orica in Hunan to bring better benefits for the province, and make more contributions to further develop Sino-Australia ties.
