Hunan’s GDP Growth in Q1 Beats National Average

Hunan Provincial Bureau of Statistics held a conference on Hunan’s economic situation in the first quarter of 2016 on April 19. According to preliminary statistics, Hunan’s gross domestic product (GDP) in the first quarter increased by 7.3% year on year to 631.9 billion yuan at comparable price, 0.6 percentage point higher than the national average. The added value of the primary industry, secondary industry and tertiary industry stood at 49.09 billion yuan, 270.57 billion yuan, and 312.24 billion yuan, up by 2.3%, 5.4%, and 10% respectively.Besides Hunan’s strong performance in GDP growth, consumer price was up by 1.8% and sampling survey of urban unemployment rate was below 6%. These three key macroeconomic indicators were within a reasonable range, indicating stable economic development in Hunan as a whole at the beginning of 2016.
