Hunan, Gyeongsangbuk-do Intend to Establish Friendly Ties

Hunan and Gyeongsangbuk-do of South Korea reached a letter of intent for friendly province relationship in Changsha on May 23, 2016. Secretary of the Hunan Provincial Peopleí»s Government Xiang Lili met with Vice Governor for Economic Affairs of Gyeongsangbuk-do Jung Byung-yoon before the signing ceremony.


According to the letter of intent, Hunan and Gyeongsangbuk-do will promote high-level contact, and exchanges and cooperation in economy and trade, tourism, culture, education, and talent training, to reach win-win results and realize common prosperity. An official agreement on friendly province relationship is expected to be signed accordingly.


Secretary Xiang introduced Hunaní»s development. The cooperation between Hunan and South Korea in the aspects of economy and trade, and tourism has seen increased frequency. The import and export trade between the two sides hit 1.5 billion USD last year. 177 South Korean enterprises made one billion USD investment in Hunan, and over 500,000 South Korean people traveled around the province in 2015. Xiang expected both sides to further boost exchanges in economy and trade, manufacturing, logistics, and tourism to a new height.


Jung Byung-yoon highly praised Hunaní»s beautiful landscapes that attracted numerous South Korean travelers. He expected to continue and further expand cooperation between the two provinces.
