The densely distributed Dong villages and the hospitable local people are the factors that brought numerous students throughout the country to seek inspiration for their painting in Tongdao Dong Autonomous County. In 2009, it won the Diamond Award conferred by Chinese college students as the most favored tourist destination. Photos taken on May 31 show students from Lanzhou University of Finance and Economics are painting at Huangdu Dong Cultural Village, Pingtan Township.
