Technological Means to Support Poverty Alleviation

A launching ceremony of science-aided targeted poverty alleviation project of Hunan Province kicked off at Shibadong Village of Huayuan County recently. Heads of Hunan Association for Science and Technology, Office of Poverty Alleviation and Development of Hunan Province, Hunan Academy of Agricultural Sciences, and Xiangxi Tujia and Miao Autonomous Prefecture, together with representatives of Hunan sci-tech expert team and targeted poverty alleviation working groups directly affiliated to the provincial government in Xiangxi poverty-stricken villages, discussed related scientific measures to help shake off poverty with local villagers.

Ten demonstrative villages of the Prefecture selected as the first batch of provincial science-aided targeted poverty alleviation projects were announced at the ceremony. Names of the members included in the ten point-to-point expert panels were told.

The project was aimed to stimulate inner power of poor areas and productivity of poor villages and households via scientific means. Expert teams will provide convenient and efficient sci-tech service in poor villages and households, and carry out plans to nurture science publicity organizations and leaders in poor villages, promote employment and scientific literacy of poverty-stricken population.
