Hunan commemorates 80th anniversary of Long March in Tongdao

　　红网通道10月20日讯（时刻新闻记者 廖洁 摄影 李长宏）今天上午，湖南省纪念红军长征胜利80周年大会在红军长征重要转折地——通道侗族自治县隆重举行。湖南省委书记杜家毫发表讲话，省委副书记、代省长许达哲主持纪念大会，省政协主席李微微出席。

　　Rednet (Tongdao County): On the morning of October 20, a commemorating convention was held for the 80 Anniversary of the Victory of Red Army's Long March in Dong Autonomous County of Tongdao in which the turning point of the Long March's direction was made (file: a meeting at Tongdao, close to the border of Hunan and Guizhou, was convened to discuss the direction of the Red Army on December 12, 1934. Zhou endorsed Mao's proposal, encouraging other leaders to overrule the objections of Bo and Braun. Another dispute of the direction of the Red Army occurred soon after, once the Red Army reached Liping, in the mountains of southeast Guizhou. Braun believed that they should travel to eastern Guizhou, but Mao wanted to go to western Guizhou, where he expected KMT forces to be lighter and which borders Sichuan, and to establish a base area there. In a meeting to decide the army's direction, Zhou sided with Mao, making Braun "fly into a rage because he was overruled in the debate." At the meeting it was decided that the Red Army would travel towards Zunyi, in western Guizhou.) Secretary of the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee made a speech in the ceremony. Xu Dazhe, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee and acting Governor, hosted the convention. Li Weiwei, Chairman of CPPCC, attended the convention.

　　Over 2000 people and other government officials attended the convention including Wang Jianwei, Xu Yousheng, Zhang Wenxiong, Huang Yuejin, Wang Kemin, Liu Jianxin, Liu Guorong, Yang Taibo, Wang Xiaochu et al.

　　今天的通道转兵纪念广场细雨霏霏、庄严肃穆。上午9时，在雄壮的国歌声中，纪念大会正式开始。

　　The convention was held on the Soldiers' Memorial Plaza of Tongdao, at 9 o'clock in the morning of October 20.

　　全场肃立，为在红军长征途中英勇牺牲的革命先烈默哀。

　　The audience stood for the long silence in memory of the revolutionary martyrs died during the Long March.

　　杜家毫代表中共湖南省委、省人大常委会、省政府、省政协、省军区，向所有参加过红军长征和为红军长征胜利作出贡献的老战士、老同志，向当年支援红军长征的全省各族人民，致以诚挚问候和崇高敬意。

　　On behalf of the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee, Hunan Provincial People's Congress, Hunan provincial government and People's Political Consultative Conference, Hunan Provincial Military Command, Du Jiahao extended his sincere greetings and payed high tribute to all Red Army veterans and comrades who participated in the Long March for the victory, to the people and all ethnic groups in Hunan who supported the Long March.
