Container throughput amounted to 294,388 Twenty-foot Equivalent Units (TEUs) at Yueyang New Port in 2016. With the addition of 121,247 TEUs of Changsha Jixing Container Terminal Co., Ltd., Chenglingji has achieved a container throughput of 415,600 TEUs, a net increase of 58,000 TEUs over the previous year.

Hunan Chenglingji International Port Group (HCPG) began operation on January 8, 2016. Taking Yueyang New Port as a container terminal of the middle reach of the Yangtze River, and Hunan’s import and export center, the HCPG operated and optimized waterways to Changsha, Changde, and Hengyang, to ship the containers of the middle and upper reaches of the Yangtze River and hinterland Hunan to Yueyang, and then transfer them to Shanghai via liner transport. Since November 2016, 98% of Changsha, Changde, and Hengyang’s containers have been transferred accordingly.

Meanwhile, the HCPG introduced advanced production and management system (PMS), and carried forward standard, elaborate, and systematic management, to scientifically dispatch production, analyze market, and linearize operation procedures. Operation efficiency and storage yard use have been improved, hence speeding up shipment by times. On November 12, 2016, 1771 TEUs were handled at Yueyang New Port, a new daily record since the establishment of the port. The container throughput reached 40,108 TEUs that month, 6,522 more than the previous record.
