Jiuxi Village: a place of fortune and an imaginary world

九溪三面环水，北靠武陵山余脉，构成了一幅“三星捧月”的景象。 Surrounded by brooks and rivers from three sides, Jiuxi village is a place near the north of Wuling mountains.

宋代，朝廷在九溪立栅筑寨，屯兵设防。

金香柚因其风味独特，品质上乘，成为全国五大名柚之一，故九溪有“柚城”之称。

2016年全村集体经济收入32万元，村民人均纯收入8260元。

　　Jiuxi Village has collective revenue of 320,000 yuan in 2016, and the average per capita net income is 8,260 Yuan of each person.

　　“九溪在慈利西北九十里，以喝堡等八溪会索溪”故名，明朝工部尚书周叙在诗词中有赞美九溪“三楚古来多福地，九溪应即是仙源”的绝句，充分展示了九溪宜居宜游的优良环境。

　　Jiuxi, means nine brooks, is 90 miles northwest of Cili County surrounded by clear brooks. It was named after Zhou Xu, a senior official of Ming Dynasty, in his quatrains as “Jiuxi is a place of fortune and an imaginary world” which expresses the beautiful scenic of Jiuxi.

　　近年来，张家界市慈利县江垭镇九溪村依托历史悠久的土家文化，良好的生态环境，优越的区位交通优势，围绕“生产发展、生活富裕、乡村文明、村容整洁”的小康社会建设要求，以文化强村为动力，以旅游兴村为抓手，以达到生产美、生活美、环境美、人文美、山水美为目标，全力创建湖南省最美少数民族特色村寨，2013年被列入首批“中国少数民族特色村寨名录”和“湖南省特色旅游名村”。

　　In recent years, Jiuxi Village of Cili County in Zhangjiajie city has kept protecting its culture heritage by developing its tourism industry, with the targets of good productivity, fortunate lives, ecological environment, beautiful landscapes and cultural heritages by the work on the fields of economic development, civilization construction and environment protection. It became one of most beauty minority features village of Hunan province , as entering in"Minority Featured Villages Directory of China"and "Featured villages of Hunan Tourism" in 2013.

　　村内有文昌阁、兴国寺、城隍庙、南北古城墙等古迹，有杨泗会、城隍会、赛龙舟、抬故事等民俗活动。九溪三面环水，北靠武陵山余脉，构成了一幅“三星捧月”的景象，村内拥有由石灰岩与沙岩接壤而贮水丰富的地质结构，九溪地处1100米深的锅形地下热水汇集中心，水温达72℃。

　　Jiuxi Village has many historic sites as Wenchang Pavilion, Xingguo Temple, Chenghuang Temple, North-South City Wall, etc. With folk activities as Yangsi gathering,Chenghuang Fair, Dragon Boat Contest,Taigushi Parade , etc. Jiuxivillage has the geological structures of limestone with sandstone and water-rich resource, and 72 degree of geothermal water of 1,100 meter underground .

　　全村及其周边共有52处自然旅游资源。Jiuxi Village and its surroundings have 52 natural tourism resources.
