Shanggantang Village: long-standing history

上甘棠村谢沐河上的步瀛桥，这是湖南省年代最久远、保存最完整的一座石拱桥，距今已有1000多年的历史了。

　　Bu Ying Bridge over Xie Mu River of Shanggantang Village is the best preserved stone bridge with the longest history of more than 1,000 years.

站在步瀛桥上远眺，上甘棠村依山傍水，坐东朝西。

　　Overlooking Shanggantang Village on Bu Ying Bridge, Shanggantang Village is near the mountain and by the river, facing to the west.

村前的谢沐河则如同玉带，环绕着整个上甘棠村。上甘棠共有七座山寨，它们呈扇形分布在古谢沐县城的周围，成七星拱月之势。

　　The whole Shanggantang Village is surrounded by Xie Mu River in front of it. The village has seven fortresses characterized by a fan-shaped distribution around the ancient Xie Mu County.

登上昂山，极目远眺，上甘棠村鳞次栉比的古居民楼尽收眼底。

　　Overlooking on the Mount Ang, we can have a panoramic view of the ancient residential buildings, row upon row.

上甘棠村的双仔河，据说，村民长期饮用此水，村内双胞胎出生率比外界高出许多。

　　It is said that, drinking water from Shuang Zi River of Shanggantang Village, villagers have a higher percentage of producing twins than other places.
