Governor Xu Presides over Gov’t Executive Meeting

　　Governor of Hunan Province Xu Dazhe presided over the executive meeting of the People’s Government of Hunan Province on the afternoon of February 6, 2017. He called for studying and implementing the spirits of relevant central ministries’ work conferences, studying and promoting key construction projects, building Hunan an ecological power, and carrying out the river chief system. National strategies and plans, especially 165 major projects mapped out in the “13th Five-Year Plan”, should be actively practiced, he added.

　　The Opinions on Vigorously Promoting Green Development to Accelerate Building Hunan an Ecological Power was discussed at the meeting, and the opinions and action plan on all-roundly implementing the river chief system (Hezhangzhi) generally approved. Departments at all levels should resolutely put forth the decisions and deployments made by the central government, taking water resources protection, water pollution prevention, water environment improvement, and water ecology restoration as the main tasks, since comprehensive implementation of the river chief system was institutionally essential for ecological civilization construction. Besides, a management and protection mechanism of clear responsibilities, orderly coordination, strict supervision, and strong protection for lakes and rivers should be established as soon as possible.

　　The need to conscientiously grasp the essence of related central departments’ work conferences was emphasized at the meeting, including civil affairs, environmental protection, state-owned assets, food and drug supervision, industry and commerce, and quality supervision. The review results of Hunan Science and Technology Awards 2016 was also generally approved at the meeting.
