Changsha, together with other 14 cities, made the list of China's new first-tier cities again due to its commercial charm, according to a ranking announced by the China Business Network (CBN) Weekly on May 7, 2017.

The CBN Weekly assessed 338 prefecture-level cities based on five indexes: commercial resources aggregation, city's connectivity with the outside world, vitality of citizen, diversity of lifestyle, and potential for future development.

Apart from Changsha, the other 14 cities that are rated as first-tier by the survey are Chengdu, Hangzhou, Wuhan, Tianjin, Nanjing, Chongqing, Xi'an, Qingdao, Shenyang, Dalian, Xiamen, Suzhou, Ningbo and Wuxi.

During the assessment period, the CBN Weekly collected the distribution data of 160 internationally and domestically renowned brand outlets and user data of 14 internet companies, such as Alibaba (a Chinese e-commerce company), Didi Chuxing (a Chinese ride-sharing company), Meituan (a Chinese group buying website for locally found consumer products and retail services), and Zhihu (a Chinese question-and-answer website where questions are created, answered, edited and organized by the community of its users).
