18th China Grains Forum Held in Changsha

The Fifth Session of the Fifth Council Meeting of China National Association of Grain Sector (CNAGS) and the 18th China Grains Forum were held in Changsha on August 2, 2017. More than 400 representatives of central and local gain administrations; grain sector associations; grain and oil enterprises; and, research institutions attended.

　　Before the meeting, Hunan Governor Xu Dazhe met with representatives including China National Cereals, Oils and Foodstuffs Corporation (COFCO) CEO Patrick Yu.

　　Governor Xu wished this annual meeting a complete success. He noted, "Hunan is implementing the strategy of innovation-driven growth and opening up to promote its economic, scientific and technological, cultural, and ecological advances. Agricultural modernization is essential to improve efficiency of grain-related work; accelerate industrial transformation and upgrading; and, promote industrial integration." Xu hoped that the CNAGS will continue to support Hunan’s grain and oil projects; and the COFCO to deepen cooperation with Hunan to increase connectivity of information and resources and produce high-quality agricultural products, so as to expand Hunan’s domestic and international market share.

　　CEO Yu said, "Hunan is rich in agricultural resources and experienced in food production." "The CNAGS and the COFCO will deepen collaboration with Hunan, synergize its development strategies, and increase investment and efforts to fuel Hunan’s social and economic development." He added.

　　The theme of the forum is to deepen supply-side structural reform in grain sector to guarantee national food security.
