The 2017 Pan-Pearl River Delta Regional Cooperation Chief Executive Joint Conference (the Conference) will be held in Changsha on Sept. 24 and 25, 2017, according to the Hunan Provincial People’s Government Information Office press conference on Sept. 18, 2017. It was said that chief executives from nine provinces (regions) in the Pan-Pearl River Delta (Pan-PRD) region, Hong Kong, and Macao will lead delegations to attend. In response to the “Pan-Pearl River Delta Region High-speed Railway Economic Belt Initiatives”, a batch of cooperative results in six major fields will be achieved.

Approved by the State Council, the Conference was jointly launched by eight provinces and one autonomous region in the Pan-PRD a region, as well as two special administrative regions; namely Fujian, Jiangxi, Hunan, Guangdong, Guangxi, Hainan, Sichuan, Guizhou, Yunnan, Hong Kong, and Macao (known as "9 + 2") in 2004, as an important regional cooperation and exchange platform. It has been held for thirteen consecutive years. According to the cooperation mechanism, the “9 + 2” executive chiefs meet to discuss and plan major works annually.

Hunan Vice Governor He Baoxiang introduced that the Conference this year will continue the theme of "Cooperation and Development to Create Promising Future", to thoroughly implement the five development ideas of innovation, coordination, green, opening-up, and sharing. Under the "Belt and Road" initiative and the soon-to-be-implemented Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao greater bay area, the representative parties will try to deepen collaboration to achieve win-win results.
