Mr. Ho Hau Wah, vice chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) and former chief executive of the Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR), led National CPPCC members in Macau to visit Hunan between Sept. 19 and 23, 2017.

CPC Hunan Provincial Committee Secretary and Hunan Provincial Congress Standing Committee Director Du Jiahao, CPC Hunan Provincial Committee Deputy Secretary and Hunan Governor Xu Dazhe, and CPPCC Hunan Provincial Committee Chairwoman Li Weiwei, met in Changsha with Mr. Ho and his delegation.

The Macau guests visited Hunan’s cultural industry landmarks, including Hunan TV, Binjiang Cultural Park (where the Changsha Museum, Changsha Library, Changsha Concert Hall, and Changsha Planning Exhibition Hall stand), Yuelu Academy, Orange Isle, Aiwan Pavilion, Mao Zedong’s former residence, Lujiang Academy, Liling International Ceramic Art Town, Hunan Flower Drum Opera Theatre, Li Zijian Art Museum, Hunan First Normal University, and Jiayi’s Former Residence. They were present at the Macau-Hunan Painting and Calligraphy Exhibition, and a Hunan introduction and tour feedback meeting.

In recent years, Macau and Hunan have maintained closer relationship. Macau has been establishing a world travel and recreation center, and a commercial and cooperation service center for China and Portuguese-speaking countries, said Mr. Ho. A huge potential is expected in Macau-Hunan cooperation. Ho hoped that the two places will, aided by these two centers, strengthen cultural industrial collaboration to make Hunan a cultural development and patriotism education base for Macau.

Secretary Du expected the delegation to make use of its advantages to promote Hunan to Macau people, and offer advices to Hunan’s reform and opening up. He welcomed Macau enterprises to invest and start up in Hunan. Hunan will, with Macau as a bridge, intensify communication and cooperation with the Portuguese-speaking countries, so as to play its role in implementing the national "Belt and Road" Initiative.

The delegation had more than 40 members, including CPPCC Subcommittee for Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan Compatriots Deputy Director Hua Jian, and National CPPCC Standing Committee and Committee members in Macau . Hunan Provincial leaders Xie Jianhui, Zhang Jianfei, Xiang Lili, Yuan Xinhua, and Hu Xusheng accompanied them on the tour.
