You will discover another Hunan at New Hunan Museum

　11月28日晚，改扩建后的湖南省博物馆灯火通明，工作人员在进行最后的设备调试。历时5年改扩建，湖南省博物馆新馆定于11月29日9时举行开馆仪式，13时正式对外开放。

　　备受瞩目的湖南省博物馆改扩建工程已经完成，省博物馆将于11月29日全新亮相。

After five years of reconstruction and expansion, the new Museum of Hunan Museum opens at 9:00 am on November 29 and officially opens at 13:00.

　　新馆建筑以“鼎盛洞庭”为创意源泉，将湖南人文、中国传统文化、中国现代文化相结合，寓意深远。

The design of the new building originated from the idea of "Prosperous Dongting" for showing the greatness of Hunan culture, Chinese traditional culture combined with modern Chinese culture.

　　新馆构建了完整的文化空间。既包括两大基本陈列、三大专题陈列、两个特别展览等展览区域，又有文物库房、实验室等文物保护区域，还设置了文创中心、服务中心、餐厅等区域。

　　The new museum has established a complete cultural exhibition areas including two basic exhibitions, three special exhibitions and two special exhibition. Besides heritage conservation warehouses and laboratories, the museum also serves visitors with shops for cultural and creative products, cultural centers, service centers and restaurants.

　　拥有丰富的馆藏陈列。新开放的省博物馆在展厅面积和展出文物数量上都有升级。展厅面积由原来的6000多平方米扩大到27000多平方米，即将与公众见面的两大基本陈列全面丰富体现了陈列主题特色，很多展品都是首次展出。“长沙马王堆汉墓陈列”将展出千余件文物，有40%以上的文物是首次展出；在“湖南人——三湘历史文化陈列”中,“皿而全”铜方罍首次亮相省博物馆，以它为首的4000多件（套）文物将从各个方面，向观众展示湖南的风土人情及湖南人的个性与精神。

The new Hunan Museum has been upgraded in terms of exhibition space and the number of exhibits on display. The exhibition area has expanded from more than 6,000 square meters to more than 27,000 square meters.The two basic exhibitions to be held are themed ones with many exhibits shown for the first time in public. More than 40% of the cultural relics will be on display for the first time at Changsha Mawangdui Han Dynasty Tombs Exhibition which are thousands ones. The Exhibition of Hunan History and Culture shows more than 4,000 pieces of cultural relics, and it will show the audiences the local customs,culture of Hunan ,the individuality and spirit of Hunan people from all aspects.

　　省博物馆于11月29日下午1时正式对公众开放，试运行3个月，凭身份证可以免费免票入馆参观。试运行期间每天开放1.5万人次参观，为保证顺利参观，建议您通过湖南省博物馆手机客户端和官方微信提前预约。

　　Hunan Museum officially opens to the public at 1 pm,November 29 , trial run will be last for 3 months, everyone may visit by free admission to the museum with his or her ID. During the trial run, the museum may have 1.5 million visitors per day. Opening announcement of the Hunan Museum

The Hunan Museum is a national museum mainly representing the Hunan Civilization. With a focus on the protection of cultural heritage, the museum committed to spreading splendid traditional cultures and modern art, is an important window for displaying and inheriting the history and culture of Hunan Province.

After arduous efforts for five years, the newly-built Hunan Museum will be finally open to the public at 1:00PM, November 29, 2017. The museum will be in trial operation during the first three months after its opening.
There are a few notices we hope you to know before your visit.

The museum is free to the public.
Kids under the age of 12 need be accompanied by their parents or join the school group.

Opening Hours:
From Tuesday to Sunday, 9:00—17:00 (last entry at 16:00)
Closed on Mondays (except statutory holidays) and on Chinese New Year's Eve.

How to visit:

Please take your passport or other valid identity documents to the Ticket Office first to get a ticket. The security check is needed before entering into the galleries.
You can also book tickets at our website, the Hunan Museum APP and our WeChat Account.

Other tips:
In order to guarantee the quality and order of your visit, please choose the less-visited periods and avoid large crowds at peak times.
During the trial operation, the maximum number of visitors per day is 15,000.
Public Transportation is highly recommended due to limited parking spaces in the museum.
