The Guangzhou Automobile Group Co., Ltd. (GAC) Mitsubishi Motors plug-in hybrid SUV (sports utility vehicle) model Qizhi rolled off the assembly line at the GAC Mitsubishi Motors assembly workshop, in Changsha on December 19, 2017. A press conference was held then to introduce the new vehicle in the Changsha Economic and Technological Development Zone (CETZ). CPC Hunan Provincial Standing Committee member, Hunan Vice Governor, and CPC Hunan Provincial State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission Committee Secretary Zhang Jianfei announced its official operation.
As the first joint venture plug-in SUV, Qizhi unveiled the "new energy era" of GAC Mitsubishi Motors.
It was learnt that there have been three new vehicle models off the assembly line in the CETZ this December, including the Leopaard CS9 EV new energy vehicle, the first TRAUM SUV S70, and the GAC Qizhi. The CETZ has stepped up to establish a more high-end, intelligent, environmental protection, and informatization automotive industry system. It will rely on those backbone enterprises to attract more investment, focus on introduction of engine, gearbox, and new energy vehicles battery and electric control projects, improve local industry supporting rate, and foster more popular vehicle models, to build itself a new automobile industrial cluster integrating auto parts and vehicle production, and automotive aftermarket.
