The 2017 Hunan Intangible Cultural Heritage Traditional Handicrafts Expo opened in the Hunan Dalu Jewelry and Antique Market, Changsha, on December 26.

The three-day Expo is hosted by the Hunan Cultural Department. It exhibits traditional handicrafts, costumes, delicacies, and Chinese medicine and medical skills.

Sixty-seven outstanding representatives of intangible culture heritage displayed a colorful life of Hunan people in the 10,000-sqm exhibition area. The inheritors demonstrated the traditional costume techniques, such as indigo print fabric, Miao embroidery, Hunan embroidery, and Tujia brocade. Typical Hunan specialties, such as Guzhang Maojian Tea, and Guidong Yellow Ciba (glutinous rice cake), attracted visitors to have a taste and learn to make. The carvings, porcelains, and lacquer wares, enchanted the audiences. The inheritors of Liuyang Jiang’s bone setting skills, Chenzhou Chen’s bee acupuncture therapy, and Miao medicine and cures from Xiangxi Tujia and Miao Autonomous Prefecture, provided free medical treatment to the visitors.
