What kind of ‘Peanuts’ statues do they look like?
St. Paul, Minnesota will give five ‘Peanuts’ statues to Changsha, Hunan, namely, Joe Cool Snoopy, Charlie Brown, Linus , Snoopy on his Dog House, and Lucy.
‘Peanuts’ cartoon is created by Charles M. Schulz, who grew up in St. Paul, Minnesota, and was issued in 1950 for the first time, sweeping the world. Snoopy, a beagle raised by his master Charlie Brown, has become the most popular icon and its cartoon stories are well-received across China.
About Miss Hmong Lucy: Lucy image is designed by Hmong-American artist Kao Lee Thao, who is dressed in a traditional Hmong costume, symbolizing ancestral connection between the Minnesota Hmong and the Hunan Hmong. Since both St. Paul and Changsha have a large Hmong population.

In early April 2018, ‘Peanuts’ statues will be shipped to Yanghu Wetland Park in Changsha, and then settle there permanently.

Why do ‘Peanuts’ statues favor Yanghu Wetland Park in Changsha?
‘Peanuts’ statues were constructed to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the sister-city relationship between St. Paul and Changsha in 2018. Furthermore, the sister-park relationship between Yanghu Wetland Park and Phalen Regional Park in St. Paul was established in 2015.
4、礼尚往来,长沙有没有送圣保罗什么礼物啊?
How about Changsha’s gift exchange for St. Paul?
In exchange, Changsha will send St. Paul a replica of the Aiwan Pavilion, which will be set up in the Phalen Regional Park with the name of Xiangjiang Pavilion. Xiangjiang Pavilion, will form a unique Chinese-style garden together with surrounding paths, arches, grass, trees, stones, etc. to reveal traditional Hunan and Chinese cultural values.

What does Chinese-style Garden look like?
Xiangjiang Pavilion is one of the first buildings to be constructed in St. Paul-Changsha Friendship Garden (Chinese-style Garden) in 2018.
Hmong Embroidery Wall: In order to embody cultural and ancestral connection between the Minnesota Hmong and the Hunan Hmong, the Hmong Embroidery Wall will be designed behind Xiangjiang Pavilion, displaying patterns of their common cultural elements.
Visions of St. Paul-Changsha Friendship Garden: The Garden will be a great place for members of the Hmong and Chinese communities to bring visitors, and for all residents to learn about different aspects of Chinese culture. It’s to help build bridges between Minnesota, China and the Hmong, and to make this world a better place.
