Hunan’s Tourism Booming on Chinese New Year’s Eve

  Reunion dinner on Chinese New Year’s Eve in hotels witnessed popular demand this year since Chinese New Year’s Eve (February 18 this year) was resumed as Spring Festival holiday. Tourism cities and scenic areas have decorated themselves with lanterns and joyfully launched a series of activities to celebrate the Spring Festival. Along with fair weather in Hunan, tourists’ passion for tours of visiting relatives, short-distance travelling, rural travelling and self-drive travelling heats up.

  According to statistics of the Hunan Spring Festival Holiday Duty Office, 42 provincially-monitored tourism areas or sites received a total of 474,600 visitors, and hotels in ten cities and prefecture across the province realized an occupancy rate of over 90%. Attracted by Changsha’s fireworks show themed “Happy Hunan and Great Fortune in 2015”, and special programs themed “Celebrating Chinese New Year and Experiencing Changsha Characteristics” initiated by Changsha’s official tourism website (changsha.com.cn). Changsha received 359,000 visitors and achieved tourism revenue of 320 million yuan on February 18, a year-on-year growth of 19.14% and 19.15% respectively. Yuelu Mountain, a 5A scenic area, received 45,000 visitors.
