Zou Jikun, a villager of south Hunan’s Ningyuan County of Yongzhou City, had a good harvest of sweet wormwood herb on August 25. In recent years, the county has been assisting its farmers in improving dry and barren fields to plant medicinal herbs and increase land productivity. Currently, there are 100,000 mu (6667 hectares) of medicinal herbs here, including sweet wormwood, Chinese yam, and melaleuca ahemifolia. With an annual trade volume of 150 million yuan, the plantation of medicinal herbs has brought fortune to over 6,000 local households.
