Yueyang Tower

  On Sept. 14, a group of international and domestic tourists visited the representative scenic spots in Yueyang, including Liu Yi Well, Junshan Island and Yueyang Tower, and went boating on South Lake to explore the unique charm of this city of long history and profound cultural deposits. These guests came to Hunan to attend 2015 China Hunan international Tourism Festival.

  Yueyang Tower stands on the bank of Dongting Lake in the northwest of Yueyang City. It is one of the three great towers in China, along with the Yellow Crane Tower in Wuhan and the Prince Teng's Pavilion in Nanchang. Fan Zhongyan, a prominent politician and literary figure in the Northern Song Dynasty (960—1127), composed an essay Records of the Yueyang Tower, which won the tower great fame home and abroad.

  Junshan Island, one of the islands on the Dongting Lake and opposite to Yueyang Tower, is known as the "Love Island" and one of the national 4A scenic areas. The main tourist attractions on the island include Liu Yi Well, Mausoleum of the Two Empresses of Emperor Shun, Mottled Bamboo, Dragon's Saliva Well, and Xiangfei Temple.
