Yuhu district of Xiangtan City is an old district with a total area of 450 square kilometers, 84.4% of which is the rural area and other areas are industrial bases of Xiangtan manganese mine.

　　破产后的“中国锰都”——湘潭锰矿地区一度沦落为长株潭城市群核心区域最落后的地区。这里不仅环境破坏严重，且地区经济发展严重滞后，居民生活环境不断恶化。

　　Xiangtan manganese mine, once named as "the capital of manganese ", had become the most backward area as the core area of Changsha-Zhuzhou-Xiangtan, after its bankruptcy. It had serious environmental destruction, left-behind regional economic developments and deteriorating living environment.

　　2010年年初，湘潭雨湖区委区政府明确坚持“强商兴工、富民强区”的基本工作思路，提出加快“三区”建设，即：改造提升老区、开发建设新区、发展壮大园区，在鹤岭地区建立鹤岭工业园。

In early 2010, the government of Yuhu District and its committee of CPC had adhered to the plan of "strengthening commerce and industry, enriching people and promoting construction" for upgrading old areas, developing and constructing new areas, developing industrial areas; for example, building Heling industrial park.

　　2012年4月，湘潭锰矿区被列入国家地质环境治理示范工程项目。该项目分3年实施，治理面积10.82平方千米，总投资3.54亿元。发展思路为通过对矿山地质环境的治理，来推动矿区的基础设施建设、产业转型升级和生态环境修复，实现矿区的生态两型蜕变。

　　In April 2012, Xiangtan manganese mine was listed as one of national demonstration projects of geological environment management, and the project would be implemented in 3 years, with area of 10.82 square km, with the total investment of 354 million Yuan. To integrated manage geological environment of mines is to promote the construction of basic infrastructures of mining area and to propelling the industrial transformation and upgrading and ecological environment protection.

　　如今，昔日破败的锰矿区里，宽阔平坦的春兰路已建成通车，棚户区改造如火如荼，工矿废地、废渣、废水等治理工程也都在热火朝天地施工中。

　　Nowadays, formerly abandoned manganese mines has changed into clean and beautiful areas with wide roads, and the rebuilding project of shanty areas is under construction along with the environments treatments of industrial waste and waste water.

　　从2014年开始启动的湘锰地区棚户区改造项目，今年年底前，共计可以改善包括李东林在内的2471户居民的住房条件。旧房换新房，再以低价加买几十平.

　　Started from 2014, the project of rebuilding shanty areas of state-owned Xiangtan manganese mine will improve the living conditions of 2417 families of local residents by moving from the old residence to the new by the end of this year, and they can buy additional dozens of square meters of their new apartment at very cheap price.

　　近年来，湘潭市雨湖区坚持“强商兴工、富民强区”发展思路，加快“三区”建设，努力实现全区的跨越崛起。目前，在全面建成小康社会32项考核指标中，雨湖区已全面完成21项，其他11项指标稳中有升、进步明显。

　　"We go all efforts to improve three major issues during 2015 to 2017, and Yuhu will implement moderately prosperity society by 2017 and basic modernization by 2020, " said Liu Yongzhen, secretary of Yuhu district committee of CPC for the blueprint of Yuhu’s future.
