Over 40 Pottery Masters Create Ceramic Artworks at Ancient Tongguan Kiln

Ceramic artists are making pottery creations on site.

More than 40 well-known ceramic artists from various places of Hunan, Jiangxi, Henan, and Guangxi gathered at Tongguan Ancient Street, Wangcheng District, Changsha City on April 19, 2016. They came here to participate in the sub-activity “portraying Tongguan through pottery” of the First Shutangshan Contemporary Literati Calligraphy Week. Ceramic collection pots were created on site, focusing on “Tongguan” theme and “Xiangjiang Ancient Town” elements. Masters later visited ancient Tongguan Kiln site and Jinggang Ancient Town, to find inspiration.

The Calligraphy Week was scheduled to be kicked off in Wangcheng District on May 8, 2016. Masters’ pottery creations will be displayed then. Moreover, calligraphers from all over the country will recreate calligraphy works which will integrate both arts of handwriting and pottery and fully demonstrate traditional Chinese culture’s charm and spirit to the whole world.
